take one onion — why?

Around 1999, I wanted to setup and run a cookery based website, with the whole 9 yards of contemporary web features — a community forum, recipes and videos, plus the all important advertising opportunities.

It never came to pass, but was inspired by Elizabeth David and her beautifully observed cookery writing. So many good traditional recipes start "take one onion…"

As a blog, to me it represents the start of something and a key ingredient in something that I'm making, not quite sure what it will be yet, but I'm having fun.
